Photographed in January 1970, Slim Aarons’ Poolside Gathering depicts an elegant afternoon at the Kaufmann Desert House in Palm Springs, California. Designed by architect Richard Neutra in 1946 for Edgar J. Kaufmann, the home is a masterpiece of mid-century modern design. The scene features Nelda Linsk in a bright yellow outfit, hosting friends including Lita Baron and Helen Dzo Dzo, under the desert sun — a perfect portrait of California sophistication and relaxed glamour.
